One of dance-pop's biggest acts now releases on its own terms. The Chainsmokers announced on X that they have parted ways with Columbia Records and Disruptor Records after 11 years.
Alex Pall and Drew Taggart thanked their old team for "a decade plus of hard work" and said they are "extremely excited to have fun and experiment with all our new music releases." After fans read the post as a breakup, they clarified that the duo is not splitting up.
The catalog they built with the labels includes 'Closer' with Halsey and 'Something Just Like This' with Coldplay, plus the albums 'Memories...Do Not Open', 'Sick Boy', 'World War Joy' and 'So Far So Good'. This year they put out 'Echo' with Oaks and 'All The Time' with John Summit.
For artists who buy tracks, the point is the route: an act this size can now pick its own release schedule, label partners and collaborators without a major's calendar. The duo also invited questions from other artists weighing the same move. If you are building a release plan of your own, browse exclusive Dance tracks for sale and see what fits.
