Reason Studios launched Reason Free on August 27, a permanently free plugin version of its Reason Rack that loads as VST3, AU or AAX in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Cubase and other major hosts. There is no trial period, watermark or expiration date, and it also runs standalone with up to 16 tracks.
Producers get 15 built-in devices to start: instruments including Europa, Kong and ID8, effects like Scream 4 and RV7000 MkII reverb, plus utilities such as Combinator and Scales & Chords. Reason Free also unlocks the Rack Extension marketplace, so users can add further free and paid instruments and effects from Reason Studios and third-party developers.
Download it now from the Reason Studios website. For anyone building a ghost production setup on a budget, it's a legitimate way to add Reason's signature devices to an existing DAW at zero cost.
