Noisia are back. The Dutch drum & bass trio of Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen and Thijs de Vlieger announced on September 17 that they are reforming the project, seven years after splitting in 2019 following a farewell tour that ran into 2022 because of the pandemic.
Their first show back is booked for December 4 at Amsterdam's Melkweg, the same room where that farewell run wound down. In a statement, the group said the touring they did to say goodbye ended up planting the idea that Noisia could be "what we want it to be, not what we think it has to be," rather than a fixed unit bound to a release schedule.
For a genre built on collaboration and remix culture, a reunion at this scale resets expectations for what's possible in drum & bass right now. Bookers, labels and fellow producers will be watching how Noisia use the comeback, and whether new music follows the live return.
