Anyma's September 12 AEDEN show at Istanbul's Ataköy Marina Arena has been pulled after the Istanbul Governor's Office withdrew permission, following local campaigners circulating clips they called satanic on social media. The Italian producer says his team got no warning and no chance to respond before the cancellation landed.
In a statement, Anyma called the show "a science-fiction story about darkness and light, destruction and creation, fear and hope," and said isolated frames had been "taken out of context, manipulated with AI" to build a false narrative. He rejected the religious and political reading being attached to the work.
It's not an isolated incident: the same venue cancelled a God Is An Astronaut gig on similar grounds earlier this year. For touring producers and visual artists, it's a reminder that A/V-heavy live shows are drawing scrutiny beyond the dancefloor, and that venue permits in some markets can be pulled with zero notice.
