Horst Cancels Its Next Vilvoorde Club Party After Condemning a Police Intervention That Ended in Two Arrests

If you were planning on Horst's next club night in Vilvoorde with MISSFITTE and Body Language, it is off: the Belgian organisers cancelled it on October 23 while publicly condemning how police handled their opening weekend, Resident Advisor reports.

The incident took place on October 18, during the daytime part of the 24-hour party that opened the new season of Horst's club series at ASIAT Park, the site that also hosts its festival. The police report says a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested and that officers were tripped, hit and kicked. Attendees quoted by What Happens give a different account: plainclothes officers making random checks, a baton drawn on bystanders and an officer kneeling on the neck of a man held on suspicion of drug possession. They deny the police were attacked, and several other people were reportedly held for hours.

In a statement on Instagram, Horst called the operation out of proportion and said guests were left frightened, hurt and humiliated. Brussels nightlife advocacy group Brussels By Night had already called the reports deeply concerning on October 21. Horst says it will now take up the police presence around the club with the city.
