If you are holding a Head Trip ticket, Sunday, October 11 is the day that still runs: doors open at 3 p.m. at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and the refund question has not been answered in the reporting, so check Goldenvoice directly.
Organizers had already moved the start time earlier and shifted Calvin Harris's headline slot to get ahead of a storm, the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel. It was not enough. Around 9 p.m. on Saturday a lightning alert cut off Under Construction, the Fisher and Chris Lake project, the venue was cleared, and the rest of the night was cancelled. Harris never took the stage.
The Day 2 timetable, as reported:
- 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.: the Sunflower Sound System, with Four Tet, Ben UFO, Floating Points, Avalon Emerson, Octo Octa & Eris Drew and Zach Cowie
- 6:15 p.m.: Dom Dolla b2b Kettama
- 7:35 p.m.: Skrillex
- 9:10 p.m. to 10:40 p.m.: Calvin Harris
- 11 p.m.: Swedish House Mafia close the night
For the scene, it is a reminder of how much a single weather call can wipe out of a festival's headline programming, and of how crowded a one-night bill gets once a cancelled day is folded into it.
