If you have been wondering whether AI-generated vocals belong on a serious techno release, Charlotte de Witte has just made it a live question. Her new three-track EP, 'Azadi', lands on November 5 on her KNTXT label, and every track features NAVA, an AI vocalist built by British-Iranian artist Farbod Mehr.
The EP runs 'Azadi', 'Omid' and 'Tales Of The Desert', and all proceeds go to FEMENA, a charity supporting women human rights defenders across the SWANA region and Asia. Mehr designed NAVA to stand for Iranian women who are barred by law from singing in public. De Witte has already tested one of the tracks on the Tomorrowland 2026 Mainstage and teased 'Tales Of The Desert' on Instagram.
Reaction online has been split. Some commenters said they prefer music made by humans, and one called using an artificial voice instead of a real Iranian singer tone deaf, while others defended the message behind it. For anyone releasing techno, it is a useful signal of how audiences may respond to AI vocals. Browse exclusive Techno tracks for sale.
