Armin van Buuren drops "Take Me Home" on Armada Music this Friday, September 25 — a full trance rebuild of Red Hot Chili Peppers' 2002 hit "By The Way." The soaring, instantly recognizable topline survives the transplant, but van Buuren rewrote the lyrics from scratch, giving the record its own identity inside the trance canon rather than leaning on nostalgia alone.
"What if 'By The Way' was made as a trance song? The original is such an iconic record, so getting to take it into my world was pretty surreal," van Buuren said of the reimagining.
It's the latest entry in a "classic-to-club" run he's been on all year, following his trance flip of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" with Silver Panda and, alongside Pete Tong and Poppy Baskcomb, a rework of Fragma's "Toca's Miracle." For trance producers, it's a signal that big-room rock and pop source material is fair game again — and a reminder that A-list attention keeps landing on records built around one unmistakable topline.
